He noted that earlier this year a pilot project had been started in Gegharkunik and Shirak regions. The obtained experience will be extended to other regions as well, he said. He said also the Armenian government had allocated 700 million drams for purchase of 14 units of agricultural machinery, including modern tractors. The machinery will ensure the cultivation of land for those farmers that can not purchase agricultural equipment for themselves.
“The station should secure the cultivation of 16 thousand hectares of land a year. Since small and medium-sized farms can not afford purchasing expensive machinery, we give them the opportunity to use these services, which should not be more expensive than what the market offers ,” said Gevorgyan.
The Armenian Agricultural Development Fund was established in March 2017. Its mission is the creation of effective agriculture based on modern technologies.
