BASF Agricultural Solutions has taken a major step toward expanding its crop protection portfolio by initiating the registration process for Replexor™ Active (fendioxypyracil), a next-generation herbicide active ingredient developed from the company’s innovative protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) pipeline.
Designed to deliver broad-spectrum weed control, Replexor™ Active offers effective management of both broadleaf weeds and grass species, providing farmers with a powerful new tool to address the growing challenge of herbicide resistance.
New PPO Herbicide Targets Resistant Weeds
Herbicide-resistant weeds continue to threaten the productivity of key crops such as soybeans, corn, and cotton. As resistance becomes more widespread and regulatory restrictions reduce the number of available active ingredients, growers are seeking innovative weed management solutions that maintain crop performance while supporting sustainable farming practices. BASF developed Replexor™ Active to meet these evolving agricultural challenges by delivering a novel mode of action within its advanced PPO herbicide research program.
Registration Process Begins in Key Agricultural Markets
The company submitted its first regulatory dossiers for Replexor™ Active in Brazil and Australia in July 2026. Additional regulatory filings are scheduled for the United States and Argentina during 2027 as BASF advances its global commercialization strategy. Subject to regulatory approvals, BASF expects the first commercial launches of Replexor™ Active to begin around 2030.
Potential to Reach More Than 50 Million Hectares
According to BASF, Replexor™ Active has the potential to become a key component of integrated weed management programs worldwide. At peak market adoption, the new herbicide could support weed control across more than 50 million hectares of agricultural land globally. Its broad-spectrum performance is expected to help farmers improve weed control efficiency while contributing to more sustainable resistance management strategies in major row crops.
Supporting the Future of Crop Protection
The development of Replexor™ Active reflects BASF’s ongoing investment in agricultural innovation aimed at addressing some of farming’s most pressing challenges. By expanding the range of effective herbicide options, the company seeks to help growers protect yields, improve operational efficiency, and ensure long-term crop productivity in an increasingly complex regulatory and agronomic environment.
