The many meetings held and new partnerships launched with players from various markets confirmed the worth and efficiency of the applications developed to optimise pesticide use as part of the drive to more and more sustainable farming.
The Trapview solutions are developed and supplied by Slovenian company EFOS (Environment and Food Safety), which specialises in the design of advanced digital technologies to support farmers, with the aim of combining productivity, environmental sustainability and food safety. In 2012 systems for the automatic monitoring and forecasting of agricultural pest attacks became the company’s core business with the launch of Trapview. It is now used for the digital control of more than 60 species of pests, to protect the yields and quality of agricultural and industrial crops and make them more environmentally sustainable. Trapview is a registered trademark in Europe and the USA.
Trapview is distributed in more than 50 countries, from Spain to Latin America and from Europe to Oceania, supporting producers and farms in combating the main pests that threaten fruit and vegetable crops. A commitment to sustainability is central to the corporate strategy: reducing chemical treatments not only cuts farmers’ costs but also conserves the environment and guarantees a higher degree of food safety.
″Trapview was proud to exhibit at Fruit Attraction for the first time. We publicised our successful network project in Spain with Proexport, where more than 150 traps monitor three of the most harmful pests on a daily basis and provide farmers with precise data and forecasts. This enables them to see what’s happening in their own and neighbouring fields, predict pests’ movements and take informed decisions on the use of crop protection products. As expected, Fruit Attraction provided the ideal platform for sharing these results with other farmers and trade professionals, and this first participation marks the start of Trapview’s consolidation on the Spanish and international markets,″ Franco Di Giano, Country Sales Manager, Trapview Iberia, told us.
Climate change: smart solutions for sustainable protection
Climate change is affecting plant pests, which are already a major menace, partly due to global trade.
Most studies conducted on agricultural crops indicate that in general, with climate change the risk of attack by pests (fungi, bacteria, viruses, insects, weeds, etc.) will increase, especially in the arctic, subarctic, temperate and subtropical regions. Through Trapview, EFOS’s mission is to develop integrated solutions to support environmentally sustainable decisions and food safety. EFOS aims to become the leading global supplier of pest control solutions.
User-friendly and reliable: the benefits of Trapview solutions
Trapview’s distinctive features are user-friendliness together with outstanding precision in detecting the pest for monitoring and predicting its development. All operations are automated. Pest catches are sent daily to the Trapview app. This provides users not only with accurate daily monitoring data but also analysis on population trends and forecasts on insects’ various development stages. They can also simulate the impact of the use of crop protection products to make informed decisions about if and when to apply them. Additionally, users get weather data and weather forecasts.
Authorised users (farmer or farm or cooperative agronomist adviser) can view the situation in the field and decide the protection strategies for implementation easily via an app from any electronic device.
