Organic arable farming feature at the DLG Feldtage 2026 event

Successful organic farming relies on broad crop rotations and a diverse portfolio of crops ranging from established field crops to innovative legumes and mixed-cropping systems. At the DLG Feldtage outdoor exhibition, taking place from 16 to 18 June 2026 at Germany’s DLG International Crop Production Center in Bernburg, visitors will gain practical insights into variety selection, cultivation methods and marketing strategies for organic arable farming.

Under the guiding theme “Crop Production out of the Box,” the 2026 edition of the DLG Feldtage event presents a broad exhibition program covering the key aspects of organic crop production. Demonstration plots by Bioland and the Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Gartenbau Sachsen-Anhalt (LLG) (English: the State Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture Saxony Anhalt – LLG) will showcase crop species and varieties relevant to organic systems. The Organic Farming spotlight will also feature ridge cultivation as a concept for efficient and economically viable organic arable farming. Naturland, one of Germany’s leading organic farming associations, together with the Marktgesellschaft der Naturlandbauern AG and Biopark, will provide information on organic markets and advise organic farmers, new entrants as well as conventional farmers entering the organic farming segment. Additionally, a wide range of species and varieties suitable for organic production are presented on the breeders’ trial plots.

DLG Spotlight Organic Farming focuses on innovation
The 2026 Spotlight Organic Farming presents practical solutions to the current challenges facing organic arable production. The emphasis is on ridge cultivation, including soil regeneration and climate resilient cultivation systems, as well as camera assisted mechanical weed control in both broadleaf and cereal crops. Visitors will be able to inspect these cultivation systems demonstrated in trial plots, including the machinery used and the associated crop management techniques.

Beyond the field demonstrations, visitors benefit from expert advice and direct exchange. Experts will share knowledge on variety selection, nutrient management and cultivation strategies. Pop up talks, discussions on organic markets and guided excursions to the LLG organic trial plots will offer deeper insights and practical orientation. The Spotlight combines knowledge, exhibits, practical examples and discussion formats to provide valuable decision making support for the organic farming sector.

Machinery demonstrations with a focus on mechanical weed control

At the DLG Feldtage, professional visitors can expect some 66 machine combinations in live field operation. Demonstrations will highlight the efficient and soil conserving use of tractors, the use of tine weeders in summer durum wheat and hoes in maize, deep non inversion tillage ahead of sowing, and direct drilling and strip tillage into cover crops or stubble. The demonstrations take place once daily during the three-day event.

Co-organizers include the Ministry of Economic Affairs Link, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt, the State Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture, and AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG. Professional partners such as Vereinigte Hagel Insurance Mutual Association VVaG, the Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants (UFOP), the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food, and other organizations will support the open-air exhibition as part of the technical program.
