Inhouse Farming–Feed & Food Show 2023: Convincing Premiere

The “Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show” of the DLG (German Agricultural Society) celebrated its successful premiere in Hanover from 12 to 18 November 2023. As a global B2B meeting place for agricultural and food systems of the future, it was part of Agritechnica, the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural machinery, which surpassed all previous visitor and exhibitor records this year.

Inhouse Farming perfectly complemented the world’s leading trade fair and its main theme of “Green Productivity” with new ideas from Inhouse Farming and Controlled Environment Agriculture. It was a meeting place for visionaries and innovators from all over the world, who presented their latest findings, shared knowledge, exchanged innovative ideas and networked. The next Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show will take place from 12 to 15 November 2024 at EuroTier, the world’s leading trade fair for animal farming technology, in Hanover.

Almost 100 exhibitors presented their innovations for indoor farming, vertical farming and new food systems at Inhouse Farming in Hanover. The extensive technical programme was very well received: Each of the seven exhibition days focussed on a different topic from different perspectives, which was very popular with trade visitors. In total, around 100 speakers discussed the future of agriculture at more than 90 events. The theme days offered a large international stage for the wide range of ideas for the transformation of the food supply chain. In addition, the media interest in Inhouse Farming was enormous. Trade visitors and media representatives also made extensive use of the opportunity to sample novel food every day.

DLG Spotlight

The DLG Spotlight developed into a crowd-puller. It offered international trade visitors compact insights into innovative technologies for new agricultural and food systems and their readiness for practical application with the help of exhibits and consulting opportunities. The focus was on available technological components from the fields of renewable energies, inhouse farming, new feed and food. The DLG spotlight was supported by the Blaue Bioökonomie in Norddeutschland (Blue Bioeconomy in Northern Germany), the Bundesverband Aquakultur e.V. (German Aquaculture Association) and an additional 13 partners from industry.

DLG Impulse Pitches: Inhouse Farming Winner 2023

Lite + Fog GmbH from Berlin is the winner of the DLG Impulse Pitches 2023. The start-up won the final round of the five live pitches in Hanover. Lite + Fog presented its innovation, the Fogponic Modules, to a trade audience and convinced the jury of experts. In addition to the depth of innovation and practical relevance, the aspects of economic efficiency and improvement of the environmental and energy situation were also decisive for the win. The hygienic standard of the modules makes it possible to grow plants and herbs for pharmaceutical projects. For example, it’s possible to grow insulin in lettuce or an mRNA vaccine in tobacco plants. This is a completely new field of agriculture – “Plant Molecular Farming”.

Inhouse Farming

 Agritechnica 2023 in numbers

The exhibitors at the “Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show” benefited in many ways from Agritechnica, the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural machinery, which took place at the same time. Not only were all the market leaders in agricultural technology and decision-makers in modern crop production on site, but the high-calibre international trade audience was also reached,” says a delighted Yuliya Bondarenko from the Inhouse Farming Feed & Food Show team.

Agritechnica 2023 set new records: Over 470,000 trade visitors from 149 countries met with 2,812 exhibitors from 52 countries. They presented their innovations, products and services in 24 halls at the fully booked trade fair centre in Hanover.

 Conclusion

“We need an intensive exchange for a successful transformation of the agricultural and food sector. This was demonstrated by the great interest in the successful kick-off event of the “Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show” in Hanover. With the successful premiere, we’ve managed to set important impulses, rethink the value chain and initiate visions. In doing so, the DLG has further expanded its role as a leading competence network for future issues in the agricultural and food sector,” says Bondarenko.
