The data relating to the agricultural machinery market in the first six months of the year, processed by FederUnacoma on the basis of the records provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, confirm the contraction already reported at the annual meeting of the Federation, held last 25 June in Zola Predosa (Bologna). The decline in sales, which has continued for more than two years after the peak sales recorded in 2021, has affected all the main types of machines. Compared to the first half of 2023, tractors decreased by 17.3% with 8,363 registered units, while combine harvesters recorded -38.7% with 173 registered vehicles. The first half of the year also closed with a loss for transporters (tractors with loading platforms), which recorded a loss of 16.7% with 285 registered machines, for trailers, which managed to contain losses to 4.1% (3,989 units) and for telescopic handlers (-24.1% with 491 units). This last category of machines, appreciated for its operational versatility, had recorded a significant increase in sales in past years and had often been noted for an anti-cyclical trend that seems to have stopped in 2022.
The downturn recorded in the market for new vehicles raises the issue of modernising the national fleet with greater urgency, which according to the manufacturers’ association FederUnacoma requires an immediate strengthening of public incentive tools.
