Syngenta Starts Operations at New China Production Base

While Chinese agriculture is moving into a new stage where stress is made on both food security and ecological safety, the research, development and manufacturing of crop protection products have become a critical factor of industry development. In order to speed up the ″in China, for the world″ strategic development, a few days ago, Syngenta Group unveiled its two world-class facilities – A crop protection formulation new plant in Nantong and the Global Crop Protection China Innovation Center to be constructed, marking the company’s constant intensification of R&D and manufacturing layout in China, which is expected to further promote the technological progress and green transformation of the crop protection industry in China and even the world.

On January 24, Syngenta Nantong new formulation base was put into official operation. Krystyna Marty Lang, Ambassador of Switzerland to China, Yan Duanxiang, secretary general of China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA), leaders of Nantong Economic and Technological Development Zone, Jeff Rowe, CEO of Syngenta Group, attended the opening ceremony

The new plant is focused on crop protection engineering and manufacturing, mass product supply, green and intelligent production of high-end crop protection formulations, as being equipped with advanced formulation process, automated production line and intelligent warehousing system, which form a full-process digital management and control system, with above annually 20,000-ton production capacity upon full load production. The operation of the new plant is a fundamental production upgrading, on top of the localized production of crop protection formulations in Nantong, as well as a key step towards establishment of a green and intelligent ″lighthouse factory.″

The plant is built following the concept of sustainable development, which will realize an efficient and environment-friendly production via green technology and intelligent management, and will also help improve the overall technical level of local industries.

Jeff Rowe, CEO of Syngenta Group, says that the new plant in Nantong is an important milestone of Syngenta Group’s global manufacturing establishment and supply system, reflecting Syngenta’s practical achievements in smart manufacturing and sustainable development. This facility will operate in parallel with the Global Crop Protection China Innovation Center to accelerate the engineering industrialization and scale-up application of innovation achievements, and will help enhance the ability to serve Chinese agriculture and global market.
