New Case IH Farmall C to get Surprise UK Launch at Royal Welsh Show

The Farmall C range, with seven variants offering rated power from 58 to 114hp, has been updated significantly for 2017, gaining capacity, transmission and control updates to boost both comfort and capability. Options now include a Multicontroller for improved operator comfort, Heavy Duty (HD) axles, new constant speed engine function, true 40kph top speed at reduced engine operating speed, increased lift capacity, as well as the ability to specify the tractor loader-ready from the factory.

A key new feature of new Farmall C models is the addition of the Multicontroller joystick/ armrest fitted to larger Case IH tractors, which provides fingertip control of key functions. Available on Farmall C tractors fitted with front linkage and the top-specification 24/24 hi/lo transmission with electro-hydraulic power-shuttle, the Multicontroller incorporates a right-hand console-mounted gear lever which selects the four main gears and also incorporates a series of logically laid out buttons to ease operation of other tasks. These consist of forward/reverse shuttle, two-speed powershift selection, powerclutch button and linkage raise/lower operation. On tractors fitted with a front linkage a further button on the back of the lever allows operation of the linkage buttons to be diverted between the front and rear linkages.

Engine and transmission developments mean that the new Farmall C tractors now achieve a top speed of 40kph at just 2,000 engine rpm, 300rpm lower than before. This reduces fuel consumption, engine wear and in-cab sound levels without requiring AdBlue.

HD (for Heavy Duty) spec comprises a beefed-up front axle and stronger rear axle trumpet housings, both of which boost component robustness, payload and, through these, traction, enhancing the tractor’s suitability for loader work in particular. It is available on models from 86hp upwards.

Another new optional feature enables two engine speeds to be set and stored. The lower setting, for example, can be used to slow the tractor for headland turns, before returning to the higher setting once the tractor and implement are back into work, making for faster, easier, more efficient operation. Regardless of load, the engine software maintains the pre-set engine speeds, which can be fine-tuned in 100rpm increments using buttons on the console to the driver’s right.

The new Farmall C models also feature new 540/540E/1000 rpm PTO options to improve fuel efficiency when performing PTO tasks that do not require high torque. These tractors can also now be ordered loader-ready, incorporating a subframe, hydraulic connections and joystick. This means that they arrive at the dealers and customers with the minimum of work necessary to install a Case IH LRZ premium or LRA economy loader.
