JCB’s latest loaders and Fastracs in Action at Scotgrass 2019

From the JCB 403 compact loader capable of working in the smallest livestock buildings to bulk loading JCB 457 for commercial fertiliser and grain stores, JCB offers an unrivalled choice of machines purpose-built for agricultural applications.

Compared with its predecessor, the JCB 419S provides more torque and increased power peaking at 183hp, a new articulated chassis design with a longer wheelbase, and bigger axles with optional auto-locking diff and the ability to fit larger tyres up to 750/65 R26.

The 15% bigger JCB CommandPlus cab provides increased interior space, better all-round visibility and new control and information features to enable operators to extract maximum performance while remaining comfortable throughout long working days.

This cab is also installed on JCB’s 435S wheeled loader, which will put its unrivalled 230hp engine output, 16hp/tonne power-to-weight ratio and six-speed transmission with torque converter lock-up to good effect at ScotGrass.

The ability to sweep trailer loads of grass into a silage clamp with time to spare means operators can repeatedly roll the stored forage to exclude as much oxygen as possible and preserve its quality, nutrition and palatability for winter feed.

Intelligent Clutch Cut Off on the JCB 435S progressively disconnects the drive clutch according to brake pedal pressure as the machine digs into a heap of manure and similar materials. This is an effective way of easing brake wear and tear while being able to maintain engine revs to extract optimum power and flow from the twin piston pump hydraulics package with its unrivalled 264-litre/min maximum flow rate.

Out on the demonstration plot, JCB Fastrac tractors will show the benefits of their sure-footed, smooth-running versatility with a selection of grassland implements, including mowers, rakes, balers and forage wagons on a 175hp 4160, a trio of 235hp 4220s and a pair of 348hp 8330s.

The 4000 Series tractors will illustrate the manoeuvrability advantages of four-wheel steering, which is fitted as standard, both for grass harvesting implements and when getting in and out of field gateways or lining up with a trailer alongside a forage harvester.
